Naomi's Children’s Fine Art Session
Focal Photographer: Naomi
Naomi is a fine art photographer specializing in families. She has traveled extensively (and lived in Europe for 7 years) and often worked with children who didn’t speak a word of English. Through her experience, she has learned to communicate in various ways and with body language and can quickly put anyone at ease in front of the camera.
Naomi’s style is simple and uncluttered. She doesn’t use the latest presets or filters as she feels they are just trendy but not timeless. Her goal is to capture moments in a way that they never look outdated.
Naomi is a mom of two and has seen her own babies grow up too fast…She wants to help you capture these precious moments for now and always.
I don’t have ideas for the session, can you help me?
Yes! We will meet in person before the session and I'll ask you questions to help discover unique ideas for your kids. Most people don't come to me with concrete ideas anyway... I'm happy to help create a vision - it's what I love to do!
How many photos will I get?
Since this isn’t a typical portrait session, we aren’t after lots of photos but rather capturing that perfect scene to hang up on our wall. Most people hang up 1 large piece of art from their favorite photo, while others do a collage of 3 to 9 images. I’ll select the best 20 to 30 images from the session for you to see and choose from.
What if my child doesn’t cooperate?
I have kids myself and I know we all have “those days” where nothing seems to go according to plan. That said, we can take our time and see if the little ones open up after getting comfortable and I usually am far enough away with my camera that I’m not intrusive on the overall atmosphere of the session. If we’ve tried all options and your little one still isn’t having it, we can book a new session and try again.
Can we postpone for bad weather?
In the case of strong wind or a downpour, of course! Mild rain can be beautiful in photos and if we plan ahead can even use it to our advantage.
Why can I only book mornings or evenings?
Midday is not ideal for photos because the sun is directly overhead and it’s hard to avoid unwanted shadows. For your photos to look similar in style to the ones you see in my portfolio it’s necessary that we shoot when the sun is low.
