Back in 2014, I got a message from a friend who's getting married in couple month. She said " I remember you have a fancy camera and took some photo at a party once. I saw those photos later and I really enjoyed them. It really documented the party and the photos are full of stories, so do you want to shoot my wedding?" Many years later, I still show up at weddings with couple fancy cameras, bunch lenses, a few strobes, sometimes a second shooter, and the passion which drives me to tell visual stories. One of the bride said "He is so kind, very responsive, extremely reasonable, and just a really nice guy to be around! He went above and beyond both with our engagement photos and with our wedding photos. He takes his time to get the perfect shots and it is SO worth it." Reviews like this is another reason I love my job. It gives me such a joy to see people so happy about what I love doing. I always kept in mind that wedding only happens once in a life time so I take my time to build the perfect shot for all my clients. Another bride said "We are in awe of the photos you took for us, they brought us back to our special day, we were so filled with emotion all over again seeing the pure joy that surrounded that day." I am an observer and a visual communicator, I enjoy watch stories unfolds and transfer the emotions I harvest into pictures.
Elopement are usually mini weddings with a small number of guest. Couples mostly only ask for the coverage of the ceremony, family photos, and some formals. 2 hours is enough for most elopement coverage. For the 2 hours of coverage, the couple will get photos from their ceremony, family photos, wedding party photo and couple's portrait. I always like to arrive on location 30 minutes before the ceremony to scout the location and get ready. During the ceremony, I like to use my zoom lens so I don't have to stand too close to the couple to capture the critical moments such as the ring exchange. I always ask the couple to have a family photo list ready before the wedding so we can do family photos right after the ceremony before people start to wonder around. After the family photo, I will take the couple and the wedding party to my scouted locations or travel off site to do photos. Even though I know how to do great wedding party photos and couple's portraits, I encourage the couple to find their own inspirations such as build a Pinterest board. This way, I know what the couple likes and can make sure the favourite shots and moments are captured. I usually come home with 200 to 400 photos and I pick the best 100 to 200 to do editing. The finished photos will be delivered via online gallery where the couple can download, print and share the photos with friends and family.
