Shooting location is up in the air, but with the Lower Mainland being so diverse and beautiful, we can sure to take advantage of it! This 1 hour session will allow us more than enough time to achieve all the right angles, poses, and any of your photographic desires! You'll get the look and feel of that special day immortalized in these photographs!

Once you book, we get to the details! We’ll pick the location and timeslot, what you should wear, and what we’ll be doing on location. On the day of, I’ll suggest poses and prime spots for where photos will look their best at the location. We can check in during the shoot, and I can show you photos I’m taking along the way so you’re completely satisfied!

For a busy family, even just remembering to book your photoshoot is a big deal. Once that’s done, it’s easy to close the calendar and pat yourself on the back for a scheduling job-well-done. But if the thought of a family shoot has you wondering, What are these little hooligans of mine going to wear? My partner hasn’t purchased a new shirt in 3 years… is that a problem? I want you to remember one thing: you’re not alone in this! I’m here to take the stress out of the day.
Before/during the shoot:
Once your session is booked, I'll send you a "Getting Ready" Guide that will walk you through everything from choosing outfits to strategies for getting kids to cooperate. A few days before our session is scheduled, I'll reach out to confirm our time and location. On the day of the session, please block off about 1.5 hours. Finally, you may be feeling a little nervous about the session... I promise to keep things light and fun and give everyone some breaks throughout the session.
After the shoot:
A couple of weeks after your session, you’ll receive an email from me with a link to your slideshow. You will be able to view your slideshow for 24 hours. Once you've had a chance to see them, you'll be prompted to choose a Collection -- after which, you’ll have immediate access to your gallery and a full month (30 days) to select the specific digital files and choose the best product to display your beautiful photos!

Before the session:
You will expect a call within 24 hours of booking to discuss a game plan for your session. In preparation for your call, it would be good to take some time to think about the following topics:
We do not want to just take your photos, we want to know your story and your vision. This call will give us a chance to connect and get to know one another.
During the session:
After our introductions, we get shooting right away! So have fun! We keep things light and easy with various opportunities to review images and offer feedback. When shooting with flash, my wife will often assist us as my voice activated light stand.
After the session:
Expect to receive your photos 2 weeks from your shoot via an online gallery link. We're not stingy with the photos taken and you get them all in both high resolution (optimize for print) and web resolution (optimized for social media). All images will go through a series of standard editing but if additional retouching is required, that is available at an additional fee of $10/image.

Sessions will take place outdoors. There are plenty of great spots in Vancouver for outdoor family sessions.
I will bring a blanket to sit on. Feel free to bring bubbles, balloons, or anything else you might want to include in the pictures. If you have pets and would like to include them, you are definitely welcome to do so, just please let me know in advance so we arrange for a dog-friendly location.
The session will be a combination of posed and candid images. Depending on the kids, we may start with posed images and then transition to candid shots, which may include a playground, props, and running around.

Where will the shoot be? These sessions can take place outdoors or indoors at your home.
What should we wear? Please ensure everyone is in comfortable outfits, and please try to avoid sportswear (including sneakers).
When will the images arrive? Within two weeks after the shoot, you'll receive an online gallery where you can choose your favourite images.

My favourite thing about family shoots is giving you a chance to unwind and turn loose for a few moments, capturing the weird, wonderful quirks that make us all who we are.
I've worked with families for over a decade to capture their moments. I'm a believer in both posed and candid shots, and I'll have you laughing with your family until you forget I'm there. I bring a full lighting kit to every shoot, so I can capture you at your best, no matter what the sun's doing. I aim for the in-between moments, when you're loosened up between posing and naturally yourselves.

Before the shoot:
We'll connect over a phone call, or via text/email to discuss ideas about locations and your family wardrobe. This gives us a chance to get to know each other before the shoot so we're comfortable with each other and you can relax and have fun on the day of the shoot. Looking for suggestions on what to wear or where to go for the best family photos? I've done hundreds of shoots in Greater Vancouver and the Lower Mainland, and I'm happy to give my insight to plan the best day for you.
On the day of the shoot:
I usually arrive 30 minutes early to pre-scout the location and plan the best sequence for the shoot. When you show up, I'll probably be cracking jokes. (It's just who I am.) First-timer in front of the camera? No problem! My mission is to make it as easy and fun for your family as possible.
After the shoot:
I'll deliver your photos via Dropbox within seven days. Not super tech-savvy? I can also arrange to deliver a flash drive to your door. And then they're yours!

Family shoots can capture the things that a family loves to do together and record all the fun moments together without it being too posed.
As a photographer, I usually don’t start to shoot right away, I will spend a little getting to know you while I set up my equipment and get everyone comfortable with me.
Relax and just have fun. The best photos are the candid ones of you being a family, rather than the posed ones. Get some of those too, but try to just relax, play, and be yourselves. Try not to focus on what you want the result to be and just enjoy the experience. You’ll get the best (and most honest and real) photos that way.
So many times I have found parents who stand behind the photographer and scream, “Say cheese kids!” Yelling and demanding young children to look at the camera to smile will only stress your children out and will result in strained, unnatural and often unflattering photographs. Step back, and allow me to naturally interact and talk with your children. This will result in natural, gorgeous smiles. Help me to capture the true essence of your child’s personality by talking with and coaxing out those smiles naturally and easily.
I make them do things like hug their parents, whisper in their parents’ ear, run away, or tickle each other. Those tricks will usually make them laugh and relax. After a few laughs the kids are usually ready to do most of the things you ask them to.” If the kids feel comfortable, the whole shoot will be easier on everyone!
